What’s New with MMS

Attend Measure Testing Information Session: Please join the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) MMS team at 2 p.m. (ET) Wednesday, May 24 for the MMS Information Session, “Putting the Test in Measure Testing: Addressing Common Challenges.” Learn about common challenges measure developers might face during measure testing, such as when to use Alpha vs. Beta testing, trade-offs between validity and feasibility, managing limited sample sizes, collaborating with testing sites, and testing critical data elements. Register today.

Register for National Quality Strategy Presentation: Please join the MMS team for a discussion of the CMS National Quality Strategy, a long-term initiative that promotes quality outcomes, safety, equity, and accessibility for all individuals, especially for people in historically underserved and under-resourced communities. You are central to CMS’s person-centric approach, and we are excited to share how this strategy’s eight core goals and key milestones will drive equity, quality, safety, and interoperability across the continuum of care. There are two opportunities to attend “Advancing Excellence: CMS National Quality Strategy”; please select the one that works best for your schedule!

Please submit your National Quality Strategy questions to the MMS team at MMSSupport@Battelle.org.

Measure Submission Deadline This Week: There is still time to submit measures for the 2023 CMS pre-rulemaking cycle! The CMS Measures Under Consideration Entry/Review Information Tool (CMS MERIT) will close for submissions at 8 p.m. (ET) May 19. Learn more about pre-rulemaking.

Announcements: Stay Up to Date

Now Available: CMS has posted the electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) specifications for the 2024 reporting/performance period for select quality reporting programs. CMS updates the specifications annually to align with current clinical guidelines and code systems, so they remain relevant and actionable within the clinical care setting.
