CMS has published addenda to three eCQMs for the 2027 reporting/performance period through the new eCQM Addendum process. Updated specifications for each measure and updated supporting documentation have been posted to the eCQI Resource Center. 

CMS1154v2 – Screening for Abnormal Glucose Metabolism in Patients at Risk of Developing Diabetes

The measure specification has a minor version update where the logic is corrected and is posted on the measure-specific page of the eCQI Resource Center. This addendum addresses eCQM Known Issue #49 (EKI-49). The version published in May 2026 contained an error in the denominator exclusion CQL definition for “Advanced Illness or Limited Life Expectancy” that caused patients with ongoing advanced illness or limited life expectancy to not be captured as denominator exclusions. This logic error has been corrected in the newly released specification.

CMS1028/PC-07 – Severe Obstetric Complications

The measure specification has been updated to add placenta accreta as a qualifying diagnosis to the numerator exclusions criteria, along with placenta percreta and placenta increta. This update reflects subject matter expert input indicating that the measure should treat placenta accreta consistently with the other specified placenta accreta spectrum disorders. The change supports accurate measure calculation and better aligns the specification with the intended clinical intent of the measure. The numerator exclusions criteria otherwise remain unchanged from the version previously published for 2027 reporting. CMS334/PC-02 – Cesarean Birth

The measure specification has been updated to revise the denominator exclusions criteria so that hospitalizations for patients with abnormal presentation, genital herpes, placenta previa, vasa previa, or placenta accreta spectrum during the encounter are excluded from the denominator, regardless of mode of delivery. This update restores the denominator exclusions approach used for the 2026 reporting period and addresses concerns that the currently published 2027 logic could result in the measured outcome influencing whether a hospitalization is included in the denominator. The change is intended to support more accurate and meaningful measure calculation while maintaining the measure’s intended clinical intent.
