On April 10, 2026, CMS released a proposed rule to update Medicare payment rates and policies for inpatient hospitals and long-term care hospitals for fiscal year 2027. These updates apply to Original Medicare and are part of CMS’s annual legal requirement to review and revise hospital payment systems.
