Safety and Follow-up Plan Measure Available for Public Comment

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) contracted with Mathematica to develop the Post-Discharge Safety and Follow-up Plan for Patients with Suicidal Ideation (Safety and Follow-up Plan) measure. The contract name is Behavioral Health Measures Development and Inpatient and Outpatient Measure Maintenance (BHIOMM). The contract number is 75FCMC18D0032, and the task order number is 75FCMC24F0136. As part of its measure development process, Mathematica requests interested parties to submit comments on the measure to inform the importance, feasibility, usability, and face validity of the measure. 

Please review the Safety and Follow-Up Plan Specification Material that includes the rationale for the measure, the draft measure specifications, and a list of guiding questions.

  • If you are providing comments on behalf of an organization, please include your organization’s name and your contact information, including full name, credentials (if applicable), and title.
  • If you are commenting as an individual, please submit identifying or contact information, including full name and credentials (if applicable).
  • Please indicate on which measure-related topics you are commenting or whether it is a general comment on the measure.
  • Do not include personal health information in your comments. CMS may share your comments publicly.

The Call for Public Comment period closes on December 19, 2025.
