The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is gathering input on candidate measure concepts to consider for Wave 7 of MIPS cost and value measure development through a Call for Public Comment. Interested parties are invited to submit their feedback in response to the information and questions included in the survey linked below between now and January 24, 2025, at 11:59 pm ET.

Why use a public comment approach?

CMS will be using a public comment approach to solicit input on which measures to prioritize for Wave 7 development. When selecting measures for development and potential future use in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), CMS considers factors such as clinical coherence of the measure concept, impact and importance to MIPS, opportunities for performance improvement, and alignment with quality indicators. CMS is interested in gathering a wide range of feedback from interested parties, such as clinicians, health care providers, and people with lived experiences. The public comment approach allows for broader and more flexible interested party participation.
