CMS is Accepting Interested Party Recommendations for Specialty Measure Sets for the 2025 MIPS Performance Year

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is Soliciting Interested Party Recommendations for Potential Consideration of New Specialty Measure Sets and/or Revisions to the Existing Specialty Measure Sets for the 2025 Performance Year of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).

CMS is accepting recommendations from interested parties regarding potential new specialty measure sets and/or revisions to existing specialty measure sets for the 2025 performance year of MIPS. Recommendations for new specialty measure sets or revisions to the 2024 specialty measure sets should be based on the established 2024 MIPS quality measures. Visit the Quality Payment Program (QPP) Resource Library to view the 2024 MIPS quality measure specifications:

In addition, specialty measure set recommendations may be accepted based on potential new MIPS quality measures that are being considered for implementation in the 2025 performance year. These potential MIPS quality measures can be found on the 2023 Measures Under Consideration (MUC) List.

The current 2024 specialty measure sets are located in the Appendix measure tables of the Calendar Year (CY) 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Final Rule.

Determinations as to whether recommendations are accepted won’t be communicated with stakeholders directly since they are being considered for the 2025 rulemaking cycle, but recommendations that are considered will be made public through publications of the CY 2025 Medicare PFS Proposed Rule and CY 2025 Medicare PFS Final Rule.
